Mick's formal education was carried out at St Ursula's and St Brendan's Colleges in Yeppoon and has been supplemented by TAFE and the school of life. He has been a pineapple farmer for the past 40 years and is currently one of three families who own and operate Valley Syndicate, a sucessful pineapple producing partnership, with an annual production of 3,700 tonnes.

He is also Executive Chairman of Tropical Pines, a pineapple marketing and packing operation, which packs for 10 local farmers and markets nationally. Tropical Pines also subcontract markets all Golden Circle hybrid pines nationally.

Mick is passionate about Central Queensland and keen to provide some influence on its future.
