Fitzroy Industrial and Agricultural Initiative

Following the completion of the Fitzroy Industry and Infrastructure Study, the Fitzroy Industry and Agricultural Initiative (FIAI) will progress a number of activities identified to facilitate economic development in the Agricultural Precinct on lands adjacent to the Fitzroy River and the Gracemere-Stanwell Industrial Precinct. These activities essentially relate to facilitating key infrastructure planning and prioritisation. The lack of infrastructure has been identified as the major constraint to economic development in both precincts.

A Project Working Group will consist of local representatives of key stakeholders and will provide input and guidance on work to be undertaken under the FIAI.

Membership of this group will include but will not be limited to:

• Department of Infrastructure and Planning
• Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation
• Queensland Primary Industries
• Employment, Industry Development and Innovation
• Rockhampton Regional Council
• Rockhampton Regional Development
• Regional Development Australia
• Stanwell Corporation
• Fitzroy River Water

The project commenced in March 2009 and is expected to be completed by June 2010.
