Merger Gets RRD Approval

Members of Rockhampton Regional Development (RRD) have voted unanimously to support the proposed merger between RRD and Capricorn Tourism.

The Extraordinary General Meeting, held on Thursday 25^th March, put forward three items for consideration to the members:

• That Rockhampton Regional Development Ltd (RRD) merge with Capricorn Tourism and Development Organisation Inc (CTDO) to form a new entity to represent the Rockhampton Region (provisionally called Enterprise CQ)
• The Board of Directors of RRD are authorised to determine and transfer the net assets and operations of the organisation to the new economic development and tourism entity.
• The merger of RRD with CTDO is contingent on the approval of CTDO’s members to also transfer its net assets and operations to the same legal entity.

Chair of RRD, Mick Cranny, said he was pleased with the outcome of the vote.

“Our members have shown that they are very much in favour of this merger,” Mr Cranny said.

“It’s what our members want.”

The merger will see enhanced capabilities in attracting local, state and federal funding support for the new organisation, as well as providing a ‘one stop shop’ for all businesses in the Rockhampton Region.
